Whitney Biennial
April 6 – September 6 2022
FRIEDAcommunity is planning a trip, as we did for previous editions.
At this point, the Whitney Museum does not offer guided tours.
Context and curatorial insights provide an informative frame of reference for this constellation of the most relevant art and ideas of our time. For this reason, we prefer to wait until guided tours are available again.
If you are interested in attending this excursion in Spring/Summer (without any obligation), please sign up via email. We will get back to you at a later time with an exact date and cost. You will then decide if you want to join.
The Whitney Biennial was introduced in 1932 by the Museum’s founder, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. Established to chart developments in art of the United States, it is the longest-running exhibition of its kind. To date, more than 3,600 influential and innovative artists have participated in a Whitney biennial or annual. A constellation of the most relevant art and ideas of our time, our 2022 exhibition will be the Biennial’s 80th edition.
Whitney Biennial 2022: Quiet as It’s Kept is co-organized by David Breslin, DeMartini Family Curator and Director of Curatorial Initiatives, and Adrienne Edwards, Engell Speyer Family Curator and Director of Curatorial Affairs, with Mia Matthias, Curatorial Assistant; Gabriel Almeida Baroja, Curatorial Project Assistant; and Margaret Kross, former Senior Curatorial Assistant.
