This workshop invites you to think creatively about the inner lives and life spans of objects, and the spaces, shared practices, materials, and persons associated with those objects, alongside their past and future movements. Together, we’ll learn to build stories through our attachment to objects, especially the emerging connections we’ve made with the dolls of the collaborative STUFFED exhibition.
Chris Campanioni’s work on migration and media theory has been awarded the Calder Prize for interdisciplinary research and a Mellon Foundation fellowship, and his writing has received the Pushcart Prize, the International Latino Book Award, and the Academy of American Poets College Prize. His essays, poetry, and fiction have been translated into Spanish and Portuguese and have found a home in several venues, including Best American Essays and Latin American Literature Today. Recent and forthcoming books include a novel named VHS (CLASH Books, 2025), a creative nonfiction called north by north/west (West Virginia University Press, 2025), a mixed-media notebook titled A and B and Also Nothing (Unbound Edition, 2023), and Drift Net (Lever Press, 2025), a monograph on migrant subjectivity that was awarded the CUNY Graduate Center’s Calder Prize for interdisciplinary work in 2022. Windows 85, launching this month from Roof Books and the Segue Foundation, is his first poetry collection.
