FRIEDAcommunity is honored and delighted to present Sara Porkalob, a storyteller, multifaceted artist and performer, for a unique creative experience at FRIEDA.
This event will not only touch on STUFFED, it will also reflect and celebrate our mission of (re)connecting generations.
This evening is divided into two parts.
First, Sara will lead an experiential storytelling /creative writing workshop (for a limited number of attendees) that will provoke stories related to the 8 STUFFED characters.
In the second part of the evening, FRIEDA will serve a dinner that celebrates Sara’s Filipino heritage while expanding our own culinary experience. Some of the stories created during the workshop will be shared. David and Sara will present an informal conversation to help all of us get to know Sara a little better. To cap the evening, Sara will perform an excerpt from her show, Dragon Lady.
Sara just ended a month-long run at The Geffen Playhouse in LA with Dragon Lady, the first installment of Sara’s Dragon Cycle.
The Dragon Cycle is a trilogy of matrilineal musicals about Sara’s Filipino American gangster family; one play for each generation built around a central female protagonist-grandmother, mother, granddaughter, and her specific hero’s journey.
FRIEDAcommunity had the privilege to see Dragon Mama, the second part of the trilogy, during a FRIEDAcommunity excursion to the Berkshires this summer.
