Make a small quilt from personal fabrics and objects with Barbara Schulman, who is a participating artist in our group art exhibition,
P E O P L E.
Would you like to experience quilt-making in a fun, informal workshop? Whatever your level of expertise, from beginner to advanced, please join us to explore quilting with spontaneity and without rules, resulting in a non-traditional quilt. We will delve into a few quilting basics, using personal fabrics and hand-stitching. Your quilt will be about you, a family member, even your dog or cat!
Please bring fabrics and objects which relate to the person or pet you choose:
– Bring a few personal fabrics you are ok with cutting up, such as old jeans, a blouse, hankie, blanket, lace, etc. (In other words, don’t buy fabric.)
– Iron your fabric before the workshop so it is ready to use.
-Bring objects that relate to you or to the person or pet you’re “commemorating.” For example, you could use a sports cap, commercial badges (like those for a baseball team), a glove, buttons, etc.
– Sharp scissors
– Needle and thread of your favorite colors, or embroidery floss, if you have it
– Tacky or Elmer’s glue, or any white glue
