Do you like keeping a journal or diary, writing from life, or writing poetry?
Join Susanne and learn to make short, simple comics about the beauty, heart, and humor of daily life using words and images. In session 1, we will explore places that are important to you. And in session 2 we will explore the possibilities of haiku comics.
We will take a playful, experimental approach. No drawing or poetry writing experience required.
Materials will be provided.
Susanne Reece is a Philadelphia-based writer and illustrator who creates comics, comics poetry, and visual essays, and writes creative nonfiction and poetry. She earned an MFA in Visual Narrative from School of Visual Arts in New York, where she now teaches. In addition to teaching, she also works as a freelance copywriter. Her interests include printmaking, book binding and DIY publishing. Susanne was a Fulbright Scholar in Munich, Germany, and a Whitney Fellow at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her work has appeared in No Tokens, Oh Reader!, RHINO Reviews, and elsewhere.

* This activity is part of our Soup Connection gatherings that take place in a safe environment on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
