The presence of Manuel Hernandez’s work at FRIEDA gives this supper a special significance. This gathering is everything but a celebration of a feast that may have taken place in 1621. It is an invitation to consider the flip side of the story, and reflect on events that took place a long time ago, but with dramatic and enduring consequences.
While we are proud of the wonderful community that FRIEDA has become, as a community, we need to remind ourselves time and time again, not to look inward but outward, to keep our mind, heart and arms opened.
