Film Discussion

Three years ago we got a call from a film crew that was making a documentary in Philadelphia. Initially they were looking for a location, but then …

We were hoping to have a “real” screening at FRIEDA. While this is not possible, we will get together later this Spring when it is safe to do so, but for now, we would like to invite you to watch the documentary on March, 24 at 10/9c on PBS and join us for a discussion and Q&A with some of the “actors” and the director Michael Eric Hurtig on Friday, March 26 at 6 pm on zoom.

Date: Friday, March 26
Time: 6:00 pm
Duration: 90 minutes
Format: Zoom. The Zoom meeting ID will be emailed to confirmed registrations the day before the event.
Meeting ID: 832 5400 6411
Passcode: 607030
Fee: Free. The availability is on a first-come-first-served basis.

Michael Eric Hurtig is a New York based film director and producer. In 2017 he launched FLX Entertainment, focused on the production of immersive documentary and reality programming.

Michael has a varied background in film and new media, having developed and produced short and long form projects for television, streaming and VR. Beyond FLX Entertainment, Michael most recently completed work on SACRED (PBS) (Post-Production Supervisor, Associate Editor, Associate Producer), a feature-length, global documentary on the daily use of faith and spiritual practice in over 40 countries.

His work has appeared in documentaries and news programming on Public Television (Pioneers of Thirteen, PBS Newshour, Metrofocus). He is a Slifka Fellow at the Bernard L. Schwartz Center for Media, Public Policy and Education at Fordham University, and is the Managing Director of The Coterie, a music theater company based in New York City.

We would like to remind you the following zoom etiquette:

  • Please sign-in 2 to 3 minutes early. Late-shows are disruptive for the group and may not be able to join.
  • As a mutual courtesy, we do ask that all participants have their camera on. No one will be allowed without their camera on.
  • Be mindful of other participants.
