Comics Poetry Workshop with Susanne Reece 3/18/25

Explore the expressive possibilities of combining poetry and comics in this introductory workshop. You’ll learn about comics poetry, experiment, play, and complete a short comics poem of your own.
No experience writing poetry or drawing comics is required!
You are welcome to bring your own paper, pencils, and pens, but paper and a variety of materials will be provided for you to try out.

 

Susanne Reece is a Philadelphia-based writer and illustrator who creates comics, comics poetry, and visual essays, and writes creative nonfiction and poetry. She earned an MFA in Visual Narrative from School of Visual Arts in New York, where she now teaches. In addition to teaching, she also works as a freelance copywriter. Her interests include printmaking, book binding and DIY publishing. Susanne was a Fulbright Scholar in Munich, Germany, and a Whitney Fellow at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her work has appeared in No Tokens, Oh Reader!, RHINO Reviews, and elsewhere.

* This activity is part of our Soup Connection gatherings that take place in a safe environment on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

*Cancellation policy: Should you need to cancel, you will be refunded only if a replacement is found. You will be charged a $10 administration fee per person to process the refund.  FRIEDA may cancel this event for any reason, including a statewide or federal mandate. In this case, you will received a full refund within 2 business days.
