FOOD BOOK

It’s been three years in the making – and now, FRIEDAcommunity is excited to present our FOOD BOOK for presale!

The idea for this FOOD BOOK was born during the pandemic — a time of forced isolation, when so many of us were longing for connection and togetherness. Even though physically apart, many FRIEDA supporters searched for ways to continue our mission of intergenerational connection, if not in person, virtually. It was a period of reflection: flipping through old photographs, revisiting cherished memories, and finding inspiration in unexpected places. For many, it also meant a return to the kitchen — reconnecting with culinary traditions and discovering (or rediscovering) the joy of cooking.

Slowly, what began as a simple collection of recipes evolved into something much deeper: a shared FOOD BOOK project that captured stories, flavors, and the unique voices of those who contributed. Our earliest submissions came from FRIEDA members, neighbors, and local artists who were already part of our extended community. As word spread, we put out an online call for entries, and contributions began arriving from across the country — and even the world. It was a truly exciting and humbling experience to witness the enthusiasm and heart poured into each entry.

As you can see, this unique FOOD BOOK is more than a cookbook — it’s a celebration of culture, community, memory, and the enduring power of food to bring us together.

Some of our talented FRIEDA staff members put their heads together to help describe this collaborative project.
