green, the Group Art Exhibition from November 18 – January 30 features a diverse group of 7 emerging, accomplished artists from Philadelphia and beyond.
Rob Finn, raised in the Northeast, lived in California for 22 years and has recently returned to Philadelphia where he is focusing on watercolor explorations of trees. Finn attended Parsons School of Design in New York City and earned a BA in Human Ecology from College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, ME. Finn’s art is an investigation into the character of trees and how climate, geology and human society affect the morphology of each species.
Avishai Greis was born in Israel and immigrated to the United States at the age of 25. Greis became an apprentice to Milton Aion in Philadelphia, who became his mentor and business partner. Greis quickly developed as a master craftsman, jeweler, and casting expert in jewelry. In his creative 70s, Greis is exploring a new artistic path.
Katty Huertas is a multidisciplinary artist born in Colombia and based in Washington DC. She holds an MFA in Graphic Design from MICA. Her work explores identity, folklore, and double standards, among other subjects. She combines analog and digital mediums such as painting, sculpture, fiber work, book arts, digital drawing, and animation to develop the final product.
Aaron Kalinay grew up in a small town in Northeastern Pennsylvania with a curiosity about the world and people. In addition to his own creative endeavors, Kalinay shares his creative passion as an elementary school art teacher.
Susan Leshnoff had a long career in academia. Leshnoff was awarded Distinguished Professor Emerita in Fine Arts in 2016 by the College of Communication and the Arts, Seton Hall University, South Orange NJ, where she taught for 17 years. Leshnoff received a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a MA from the University of the Arts, Philadelphia. She received an Ed.D. from Columbia University.
Jennifer Manzella has been an art educator for over 10 years and received an MFA in printmaking at The University of Georgia. She has been in numerous juried national and international exhibitions including two with the International Print Center in New York City. Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, Manzella currently teaches printmaking courses at Arcadia University and is a member of BYO Print, a print cooperative in Philadelphia.
Ivy Xue holds a Bachelor in Art with a major in Studio Arts, and a certificate in Applications in Computing from Princeton University. Xue is exploring her interest in the visual arts and graphic design, as well as Asian American issues.
