Short Stories & Novellas

This group reads a wide range of short fiction – classic and contemporary, traditional and experimental – to appreciate the richness and variety of the genre.
The gatherings are every other week to discuss two short stories or one novella in response to the members’ interests.

A native Philadelphian, Larry Wilkins graduated from Villanova University in 1967 and then pursued graduate English study at Harvard, working notably with Reuben Brower and Robert Kiely. He then embarked on a teaching career that began in Sydney, Australia, and continued for many years at Abington Friends School. He has regularly taught courses on Shakespeare, American Poetry, Southern Writers, and Drama. A frequent recipient of fellowships and grants, Larry has studied the novel with Anthony Winner and Alistair Duckworth at the University of Virginia, lyric poetry with Helen Vendler at Harvard, Shakespeare with David Scott Kastan and James Shapiro at Columbia, and short fiction with Dorothy Bednarowska at Oxford.

  • Please sign-in 2 to 3 minutes early. Late-shows are disruptive for the group and may not be able to join.
  • As a mutual courtesy, we do ask that all participants have their camera on. No one will be allowed without their camera on.
